QuickDraw supports images up to 8 bits-per-pixel (bps). Color QuickDraw supports images up to 32-bps. Two new data structures built into the ROM provide its increased capabilities: Color Patterns and Pix Maps.

Macintosh SE/30 recognizes Color QuickDraw patterns, but is unable to display images in color on its own monitor.
